Owner of stores Picadilly-the Belgian Delhaize Group purchases business of its competent Varna chain Mandarin. The deal is for separate shops, not for the brand or the whole company. 8 sites, located both in Varna and Sofia are to be transferred, while the rest two are to continue to operate under their present brand.

On the retail market, there were no acquisitions from almost three years now. Via the deal Picadilly is to grow by already working sites, instead of through search of new ones and their ongoing slow development. In the case with Mandarin, the matching of concepts is almost complete - Belgian chain wants to grow just in Sofia and Varna, and mainly through small objects, such as the portfolio of Mandarin contains.

Mandarin is operating in the small Express format stores and after the transfer Delhaize Group takes place they are to be renamed Piccadilly Daily.
