"Our goal is to complete the bridge between Vidin and Calafat by the end of the year," said Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski. The completion of Danube Bridge 2 (Vidin-Calafat) depends on the weather conditions since the finishing operations require certain temperatures.

"Within days, it should be finally connected but its commissioning depends on the establishment of the company that will operate the bridge," explained Moskovski.

The negotiating team on the Bulgarian side for the establishment of the company has been appointed and a procedure of interdepartmental coordination is going on in Romania. Then, the Romanian negotiating team will be appointed. This is most likely to happen next month.

The joint teams should agree all the technical details of the company’s operation. Under the Memorandum signed back in 2000, the road tolls will be collected on Romania’s territory.
