A U.S. investment fund, related to the Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, expressed interest in buying the Lead & Zinc Complex in Kardzhali. Non-governmental sources claim that a preliminary contract was signed for the sale of the company.

Negotiations between representatives of the Bloomberg company and the owner of the complex, Valentin Zahariev, were held on July 30. At the same time, the Zashtita Trade Union at the Lead & Zinc Complex announced that the factory was examined by engineers of the Spanish Austria de Zinc. The Spanish were hired by the factory’s creditor – the First Investment Bank – and they have to analyse the state of the factory.
