History of Ichera

Ichera is a small village nested in the Sliven part of the Balkan Mountain. The legend tells that the breathtaking nature and the pure air attracted here people since the antiquity. It was the favorite place of the Sliven boyars and voevodas.
According to the story tsar Simeon the Great granted the villafe along with the lands surrounding it reaching the Emine cape to one of his most trusted boyars showing his gratitude for his devotion. Even the tsar came many times in Ichera.
The earliest traces for Ichera`s appearance date from the early Middle Ages, when it was the fortress Sikera - 4-5 century. The name Sikera gave the nowadays name of the village of Ichera.
Usually, in the second Sunday of August, a fair is organized in the Itshera. The event is to gather all the men having their origin in the village. Traditionally they visit the Yamata district where their only aim is having feast and fun. Lately the event became popular and attracts a lot of guests.
